Alexandre Ouzounoff is a French composer who studied Bassoon with Maurice Allard and won the 1rst Prize in History of Music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris. Few years after he is Laureate of the International Chamber Music Competition of Martigny, Switzerland (1978).
From 1980 he became part of the international «avant-garde» for the Bassoon, working very closely with many famous composers, and premiered more than 100 new astonishing works.
In 1990 he started to experience improvisation with African musicians in Nigeria and has been invited to play with most prestigious jazz players as Lionel Hampton, Matt Brubeck, Jean-François Jenny Clark, Mino Cinelu, Martial Solal.
From 1994 he started to dedicate intensively to Composition.
In 1998 he received the 1rst Prize of St Jacques de Compostelle Competition. He was commissioned by the CNSM of Paris in 1999 for the Bassoon Prize with -Nairobi, la nuit? for Bassoon and Percussion. He was appointed Professor of Bassoon at the Conservatory of Versailles in 2003.
In 2015, he won the 2nd Prize of the Col Legno Composition Competition (USA).
In 2018, he was invited as the Guest Composer at the Talis Academy (Switzerland) and at the Chamber Music Festival of Beijing's Conservatory for Master classes and the World premiere of «Un Vent d'orages lointains» for French horn and Percussion with Zhen Yun (1rst Prize at 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition).
He has composed more than 50 pieces and his works are performed internationally (USA/Poland/Taiwan/Portugal/Finland/Germany/Austria/Japan).
