Emanuel Vardi (1915-2011) is best known for his wonderful playing and interpretations. He also wrote two suites on American folk songs for viola. The first in 1944 for viola and chamber orchestra (published by G. Schirmer) and the second in 1977 for viola and piano 1977 (published by Emvar Music Publishing). The second one was recorded by Vardi himself on his CD «the Legendary Violist Emanuel Vardi: The Virtuoso Viola».
